One person was killed in an earthquake off the coast of the Philippines.
One person died as a result of an earthquake in the Philippines when a house collapsed in the mountain village of Kalapagan in the province of East Davao. This was announced on October 10 by the director of the Civil Defense Department of the region, Ednar Dayangirang.
"I just spoke with the mayor of the city, who confirmed the first victim during the earthquake," the Inquirer newspaper quoted him as saying.
Dayangirang clarified that a local resident died due to the fall of hollow concrete blocks. Electricity was also cut off in other parts of the region and a tsunami warning was issued in the Philippines, Indonesia and Palau.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.4 was recorded off the coast of the Philippines earlier in the day. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for the evacuation of residents living in the southern part of the state, where a significant earthquake was detected.
