IT expert Shirinkina listed password combinations that exclude hacking
Over 80% of information leaks occur due to hackers stealing user passwords, which in turn prefer to use banal combinations like "123456", "qwerty" or date of birth when registering somewhere. This was announced on October 9 by Anastasia Shirinkina, an IT expert and founder of the iAM website development company.
According to her, many so-called "attacking" algorithms, trying to gain access to personal accounts or mailboxes, go through standard numbers and letters, so you can insert an unobvious mathematical symbol or sign in the middle of the password being created.
"Use the "code phrase" instead of the word. A password of several words and characters is much more difficult to crack. For example, "Marketing2024" is guessed in minutes, whereas "Marketing +takeoff_24!" is much more difficult to guess," Shirinkina explained in an interview withГазетой.ги ".
She also advised combining both Latin and Cyrillic letters in passwords, as well as deliberately creating them from at least 12 or 14 characters, since each of them increases the strength of the cipher. On the advice of a specialist, you can store data from your "cloud keys" in password managers, which include 1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass, in a physical token, for example, YubiKey or secure cloud storage, access to which is provided by two-factor authentication.
In order to avoid primitive codes, it is important, as the expert emphasized, to rely on your associations to a specific event, for example, by linking this process to the time of the year.
On October 2, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned Russians against storing data in modern smartphones. The information that is especially important to protect includes photos of documents, passwords, and bank notifications. As emphasized, it is better to transfer this data to an offline format.
