The US Senate has approved a budget for military spending in 2026 of $925 billion, of which $500 million will be spent on assistance to Ukraine. This became known on October 9 from a live broadcast on the Senate website.

The background materials note that the Committee on Armed Forces Affairs of the U.S. Senate provides for the extension of the Initiative to Promote Security in Ukraine (USAI) for $ 500 million.

The document was supported by 77 lawmakers, 20 opposed. The bill required the support of at least 60 people to pass.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on October 8 that the European Union (EU) has no new ideas regarding financial support for Ukraine, except for the use of frozen Russian assets. According to Frederiksen, the EU countries should continue to look for ways to resolve this situation.
