- The media learned about the US plans to deploy 200 military personnel in Israel to monitor the ceasefire.
Washington will send about 200 American troops to Israel in order to monitor compliance with the ceasefire agreements in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on October 9 by the Army Times (AT) newspaper, citing officials.
"The United States is sending about 200 troops to Israel to help...> monitor the ceasefire agreement in Gaza as part of a team that includes partner countries, non-governmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector," the publication says.
Unnamed sources clarified that the US Central Command thereby plans to create a so-called "civil-military coordination center" in this area in order to arrange supplies of humanitarian and logistical assistance to the enclave, as well as contribute to maintaining security there.
On the same day, political analyst Dmitry Brije, in a conversation with Izvestia, pointed out the fragility of the peace plan between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. He called the agreement "far from a guaranteed step towards real de-escalation."
