One of the largest white sharks recorded in the Atlantic has surfaced off the coast of Canada during a seal hunt on the eve of winter. This was reported on October 9 by The New York Post (NYP), citing a source.

"Last week, he "pinged" (sent a signal about his location. — Ed.) from the far northern reaches of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, right off the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, which made it "one of the farthest northern ping sharks that we have had," said researchers from the non—profit organization OCEARCH.

It is specified that the shark is about 30 years old. Its length is 4.24 m and its weight is 749.79 kg. The researchers noted that the shark, trying to gain weight, hunts seals, which affects fish stocks in the region.

On September 16, the Stella Beach Makadi Hotel reported that the beach at the Makadi resort in the Egyptian city of Hurghada was closed due to sharks approaching the shores. Some media outlets claimed that the authorities were forced to take urgent security measures after Russian tourists spotted marine predators near the coastline.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
