The creator of the Leningrad Ballet on Ice, Kurenbin, died in St. Petersburg.
Vladimir Kurebin, a master of sports of international class, one of the creators of the Leningrad Ballet on Ice, died at the age of 79 in St. Petersburg. This was announced on October 9 in the press service of the city Committee on Physical Culture and Sports.
"It is with deep regret that Vladimir Ivanovich Kurenbin, an outstanding figure skater of the 60s of the last century, master of sports of the USSR of international class, one of the creators of the Leningrad Ballet on Ice, passed away on October 8," the publication says.
It is specified that the farewell to the figure skater will take place on October 10 at the Smolensky cemetery.
Kurebin represented the Burevestnik Training Camp and the national teams of Leningrad and the USSR. He became the winner of the World University Games in 1968, as well as a multiple national medalist in men's single skating and won many awards at international competitions.
