Israel's National Security minister says Netanyahu faces overthrow due to Hamas
The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be overthrown by representatives of the country's Ministry of National Security and ministers from the Otzma Yehudit party if the Palestinian Hamas movement is not removed from power in Gaza. This was announced on October 9 by the head of the Ministry of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir.
"If the Hamas regime is not overthrown, or if we are only told that it has been overthrown, but in fact it continues to exist under another guise, Otzma Yehudit will overthrow the government," he wrote on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).
Ben-Gvir clarified that he had already put forward this condition to Netanyahu at the talks that took place a few days earlier. He stressed that as part of his speech, he drew a "clear red line" indicating his unwillingness to enter a government that would allow the Palestinian movement to rule in the enclave, and added that he had managed to get a promise from the head of state to prevent such a situation.
On the same day, Israel and Hamas signed an agreement on a cease-fire and the release of hostages, which, according to US President Donald Trump, could take place on October 13 or 14. On October 3, Hamas representatives confirmed their readiness to transfer control of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Committee.
