The State Duma reacted to Zelensky's threat to arrange a blackout of the two regions
By threatening the Belgorod and Kursk regions with a blackout, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky wants to sow panic among the local population. Yuri Shvytkin, deputy chairman of the State Duma's defense committee, expressed this opinion on Thursday, October 9, in response to a corresponding statement by the Ukrainian leader.
"It is more designed for possible panic among the local population. He wants to create distrust in our armed forces and governing bodies, which, of course, will not succeed," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
Shvytkin stressed that Russia primarily proceeds from the tasks of a special military operation (SVO), and does not look back at the delusional statements that Zelensky is trying to make.
"It should be noted that the situation in the Belgorod and Kursk regions is tense. I bow to the inhabitants of these border territories for their courage and heroism. At the same time, I want to say once again that local government bodies and military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are doing everything possible to prevent the penetration of various intelligence groups," the parliamentarian stressed.
Earlier, Zelensky threatened to turn off the lights of the Belgorod and Kursk regions if there were large-scale blackouts in Ukraine as a result of Russian strikes, RT reports.
In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Zelensky, who is threatening to "blackout" the Belgorod and Kursk regions, may have an "overdose," according to the website. kp.ru .
