- Lavrov called the countries of the East Russia's partners in creating security in Eurasia
Moscow sees Arab countries as promising partners in shaping a continent-wide Eurasian security architecture. This was announced on October 9 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview for RT's Bridges to the East project.
According to him, at the moment, NATO is setting itself the task of ensuring the security of the territories of its member countries. Lavrov clarified that at the moment "threats are coming from the South China Sea."
The minister stressed that the alliance countries are actively implementing their infrastructure at the "eastern tip of Eurasia," so this factor is "very important in the context of the formation of the greater Eurasian partnership" as a material foundation and "building on it the Eurasian continent-wide security architecture."
"Our Arab colleagues are promising partners for us in these processes. We will also discuss this at the first Russian-Arab summit," Lavrov concluded.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on September 5 that Russia was not going to turn around from the East. According to him, Russia is currently developing its strategic partnership with China and other countries of the Global South that are interested in being friends with Russia.
