Director Egor Konchalovsky said that, despite the stereotypical opinion about star dynasties, his father never helped him professionally. A well—known surname has not only advantages, but also disadvantages, a relative of two classics of Russian cinema, Andrei Konchalovsky and Nikita Mikhalkov, noted in a new issue of the Izvestia podcast.

"It helps because, relatively speaking, I've never had a "first job syndrome." When we started the advertising business, no one asked: "Did you take any pictures?" "I must have filmed it," they thought, "since I come from such a family." But you have to pay for everything. One journalist wrote a review with the title "Neither Mikhalkov nor Konchalovsky succeeded." Therefore, the demand is different: more criticism, more hatred, more "daddy did everything to him!" — said the director.

According to him, he values and respects his family very much and is ready for the inevitable negativity, especially if "the positive outweighs." The director added that only once, at the beginning of his career, he turned to his famous father for advice.

"When they first offered to make a movie. I have no professional education, I am an art critic, before that I only shot commercials. Dad said, "But they won't kill you. Well, just think, they'll say that they took off the trash," Konchalovsky recalled.

The director noted that earlier "older relatives" criticized his work. At first he was worried, but later he learned to treat it philosophically.

"At first I was reflecting, but then I realized that either I was making a movie and that was it, or I had to listen and reflect. Since I can't do anything else by this point, I prefer to make movies and ignore criticism," he concluded.

On October 1, Russian actor and musician Gleb Kalyuzhny told Izvestia that after completing his military service in the Russian army, he plans to continue acting in films. According to the actor, he has a lot of work waiting for him in the media industry.
