Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will not be able to participate in the "Russian Energy Week" in Moscow, as the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Belgrade on the same days. He announced this in an address to the people on October 9.

"I have received an invitation to Moscow for the Russian Energy Week, but this is impossible because Ursula von der Leyen is coming here on October 14, 15, 16, on the same dates," B92 quoted him as saying.

He noted that Serbia has not yet concluded a new gas agreement with Russia. Vucic also said that the Serbian underground gas storage facility Banatski Dvor is currently filled to the limit of 357 million cubic meters of gas.

He stressed that gas supply is critically important for the production of electricity at gas-fired thermal power plants in Novi Sad and Pancevo, especially given the high costs of new technologies.

Earlier, on September 24, Vucic said that Serbia feels Russia's support in preserving the country's territorial integrity. The Serbian leader added that the countries maintain cooperation at a high level. Vucic also expressed hope for its continuation in all areas.
