Putin assured Aliyev of compensation in connection with the crash of the AZAL plane
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia will do everything necessary to pay compensation in connection with the tragedy related to the crash of the AZAL airline plane. He announced this on October 9 at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Dushanbe.
"Of course, everything that is required in such tragic cases will be done by the Russian side in terms of compensation," Putin said.
The Russian president also said that the air defense missiles fired on the day of the Aktau disaster did not hit the plane directly, but exploded a few meters away from it. According to him, the fuselage of the aircraft could have been damaged not by the striking elements of the missiles, but by debris.
In addition, Putin expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the crash of the AZAL plane. He confirmed that Russia is providing full cooperation to the investigation and will continue to act within the framework of the agreements on the incident.
In response, Aliev thanked Putin for personally monitoring the situation and the course of the investigation, expressing confidence that information about the incident would be received positively by the societies of both countries.
