Abraham Russo filed a lawsuit demanding compensation for the abduction in 2004.
Pop singer Avraham Russo filed a lawsuit in the Kuntsevsky District Court of Moscow demanding compensation for moral damage caused by the abduction that occurred in 2004. Information about this appeared on October 9 in the Telegram channel of the courts of general jurisdiction of the city of Moscow.
"The Kuntsevsky District Court of Moscow has received a claim from Abraham Russo against T.Z. Eldukaev for compensation for moral damage caused by the crime. As follows from the statement of claim, on January 31, 2004, the defendant, together with other persons, abducted the singer and held him until he agreed to comply with the demands of the kidnappers," the message says.
Despite the fact that the criminal prosecution against Eldukayev was terminated on non-rehabilitating grounds, Russo claims that the defendant's actions led to his physical and moral suffering. The singer asks the court to recover compensation for moral damage from Eldukaev. The preparation of the case for trial is scheduled for October 23, 2025.
Russo wrote a statement about the abduction in September 2018. He accused Ismailov, the former owner of Cherkizovsky market, who was a sponsor of the artist in the early 2000s, of ordering the kidnapping. According to investigators, the singer was held and beaten in the office of a restaurant in the center of the capital, and then taken to the Moscow region, where he was held on the territory of one of the dachas until he agreed to fulfill the demands.
In May 2021, the Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced two defendants in the case of the abduction of Russo. Vladimir Gusakov, the bodyguard of businessman Telman Ismailov's nephew, was sentenced to six years in prison, and businessman Elyar Damirov was sentenced to five. At the same time, the court released them due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
In March 2022, the court sentenced the former director of the Prague restaurant, Zaur Mardanov, Ismailov's nephew, to seven years in prison for kidnapping the singer and also released from punishment.
In September 2024, another person involved in the case, Vladimir Shestopalov, was arrested. Russo's lawyer, Andrei Alyoshkin, told Izvestia that the singer identified Shestopalov during a confrontation.
On August 21, a panel of jurors found Tarkhan Eldukayev innocent, accused of the attempted murder of singer Avraham Russo. He was detained in October 2023. According to the investigation, he acted as the executor of the plan of the ex-owner of Cherkizovsky market Telman Ismailov. The man hired three men, one of whom shot Rousseau several times, wounding him.
