The gasification agenda outlined by Russian President Vladimir Putin, based on the domestic gas market, is being consistently implemented in St. Petersburg. This was stated by the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, summing up the results of the plenary session of the XIV St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

"The Russian President noted that the gas industry is currently undergoing major changes. This is not only about switching exports from the West to the East, but also about a significant increase in supplies to the domestic market. This includes the social gasification program, which was launched in Russia in 2021. The presidential agenda is being consistently implemented in St. Petersburg," said Alexander Beglov.

Beglov noted that St. Petersburg has historically been one of the leaders in terms of gasification in the Russian Federation. Almost 96% of households in the city are connected to gas supply. In 2023, social support measures were expanded: for example, connection to the gas network became completely free for privileged categories of citizens. On behalf of the president, the supply of gas pipelines to the boundaries of households has been completed ahead of schedule. As planned, the city continues to provide the possibility of connecting gas to individual residential buildings. Special attention is paid to the task of horticultural gasification set by the President.

Natural gas currently accounts for more than 99.8% of St. Petersburg's fuel and energy balance. On behalf of the President of Russia, all city boilers that previously operated on coal or fuel oil were switched to natural gas and other environmentally friendly fuels.

During the plenary session at Expoforum, the topic "The gas market 2025-2035: new outlines in the context of transformation" was discussed. The discussion was attended by representatives of government authorities in Russia and other countries, top officials of major domestic and foreign companies, and industry associations.
