The Israeli government announced the release of hostages after the cease-fire
After 24 hours of the Israeli Government meeting, a 72-hour period for the release and return of hostages will begin. This was announced on October 9 by the representative of the Government of the country, Shosh Bedrosian.
According to her, a cabinet meeting will be held in the evening at 17:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time), and a government meeting at 18:00. Bedrosian added that a ceasefire will come into force in the Gaza Strip within 24 hours after the cabinet meeting.
"And then, after these 24 hours, a 72-hour period will begin when all our hostages will be released and returned to Israel," the representative said.
She stressed that Israel is preparing to take hostages "in any condition they may find themselves in." In addition, Bedrosian also noted that this morning in Egypt, all parties signed the final draft of the first stage, which provides for the release of all hostages.
After that, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will relocate to the yellow line, which was previously mentioned, and the military will control about 53% of the territory of the Gaza Strip.
On the same day, the Palestinian Hamas movement announced that the surviving Israeli hostages would be exchanged for about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
Prior to that, on October 8, US President Donald Trump announced that he could visit the Middle East at the end of this week to negotiate peace in Gaza, and did not rule out a visit to the enclave itself. At the same time, the American leader stressed that his participation is necessary to conclude a deal between Hamas and Israel.
Later, Trump announced the signing of the first phase of the peace plan between the Israeli side and the Palestinian movement. As the head of state pointed out, this means the withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to the agreed line and the speedy release of all hostages.
The Al Jazeera TV channel reported that the Palestinian Hamas movement confirmed the achievement of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
