AvtoVAZ has started preparing for Lada Azimut certification

AvtoVAZ has announced the start of work on preparing the new Lada Azimut crossover for state certification tests. According to their results, the new model will receive Vehicle Type Approval (OTT), which gives the right to sell the car in the Russian Federation. The company's press service announced this on October 9.

Over the next 1.5 months, a batch of 16 vehicles will be manufactured on the main assembly line for certification, and the first five of them have already been assembled and will be sent for testing, including tests of braking systems and other components.

"In total, during certification, the car must confirm compliance with several dozen strict standards in the field of safety, ecology and ergonomics. The certification will last until the spring of 2026, which will allow comprehensive testing of cars in different weather and temperature conditions," the company noted.

AvtoVAZ indicated that a prerequisite for certification is the assembly of pilot vehicles on the main assembly line. 92% of the parts of the pre-production Azimut are made on the main tooling. It is stated that the production technology has been largely developed, and some of the staff were trained during the assembly of prototypes and exhibition samples in the AVTOVAZ engineering service. The company added that the serial production of Azimut is scheduled for 2026.

The Lada Azimut crossover will be equipped with upgraded engines of its own production with a volume of 1.6 liters and 1.8 liters with a capacity of 120 hp and 132 hp, respectively. One of the main and unusual features of the model was the electric heating of the front side windows.
