SF explained the need to complete the experiment with the "self-employed tax"
The recommendation of the Federation Council to end the experiment with the professional income tax in 2026 does not imply the abolition of the institution of self-employment. Senator Oleg Golov emphasized this in an interview with Izvestia.
We are talking about the transition from an experimental regime to a permanent system.
"In six years, the experiment has proven its effectiveness — 14.3 million people have legalized their income. However, we also see serious problems. Employers massively abuse the regime, substituting employment contracts with the self-employed. People are being deprived of social guarantees, and they are not forming a pension. This is unacceptable," says the source.
Golov is convinced that completing the experiment means creating a more advanced system that preserves simplicity and benefits, but eliminates abuse and adds social protection.
"The self-employed don't have to worry. The government has made a clear promise not to revise the law until 2028, and this is a principled position. Even when the regime is transformed, it's not about eliminating it, but about improving it," the senator explains.
According to him, the state will not abandon the institution, which involves more than 14 million citizens. The new regime will retain key advantages: ease of registration, clear reporting, and preferential rates. At the same time, social protection elements that are currently lacking will be added.
The senator advises self-employed citizens to continue working as usual, follow the rules and follow the official decisions of the authorities.
