The active season of harvesting white Russian truffles has begun in the Moscow region. Candidate of Biological Sciences Pavel Glazkov announced this on Thursday, October 9.

"It's October right now, the perfect time to harvest white Russian truffles. Now you can look for truffles in the Moscow region and the Vladimir region, but the ideal option is forest belts in the fields. Now is the most ideal time, the only thing is that snow may fall in November," Glazkov told the Moscow City News agency.

He specified that truffles appear from the beginning of August and are harvested until January, even under snow. But this requires a specially trained dog. According to the biologist, it is best to go in search of truffles with a dog at night.

"Because it's cool at night, and the dog can smell the authentic truffle better. That is, they are collected at night because it is more convenient for the dog to search at night," Glazkov said.

He added that the white Russian truffle can also come out, that is, it can be visually searched for directly.

In turn, mushroom expert and mycologist Maxim Dyakov told RT that the end of the mushroom picking season in Central Russia will directly depend on the weather.

He noted that as long as it is warm and humid enough, there will be mushrooms. And if the frost hits or the precipitation stops and everything dries up, then the mushrooms will stop.

The expert added that at the moment, different types of mushrooms can be found in the forests: autumn honey mushrooms, mushrooms, volnovushka, purple rows and Polish mushroom.

Earlier, on September 25, mycologist, Candidate of Biological Sciences Mikhail Vishnevsky said that mushrooms contain all the useful substances that a person needs, but in order to get them, it is necessary to destroy the chitinous cell wall before use. To do this, the mushrooms must be powdered or frozen before cooking.

In turn, endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova advised not to consider mushrooms as a full-fledged alternative to meat. 360.ru .
