Used car imports from Japan to Russia decreased by 10%
In the first nine months of 2025, imports of used cars from Japan to Russia decreased by 10% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 150,000 units. In September, imports amounted to 18.9 thousand units (-5%). Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel.
The most popular brands imported were Toyota (33.5% share) and Honda (30.3%). Suzuki (6.2%), Subaru (5.7%), Nissan (4.9%) and Mazda (4.7%) cars are also being transported from Japan to Russia. Volkswagen (3.3%), Mercedes-Benz (2.8%) and BMW (1.9%) were the most popular European brands, and they also have a right-hand drive.
The most popular models are the Honda Freed, Fit, Stepwgn, as well as the Toyota Corolla, Yaris, and Wish. As the analyst noted, quite old cars are being transported from Japan to the Russian Federation, more than 50% of imports are cars older than 7 years. At the same time, the share of cars with an engine capacity exceeding 160 hp is only 10%, he noted.
Earlier, on October 8, it was reported that in September 2025, 10.7 thousand used passenger cars were imported from South Korea to Russia, which is 68% more than in September 2024. The increase compared to the previous month was 3.5%.
Before that, on October 7, it became known that in September 2025, 9.9 thousand used passenger cars were imported from China to Russia. This is a quarter more than in August of this year, and four times more than in September 2024.
