US President Donald Trump was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. It was awarded to the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, Maria Corina Machado. The relevant information was published on October 10 on the award's website.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to people, organizations or movements who have made significant contributions to the consolidation of peace, the development of international cooperation and the protection of human rights. Unlike other Nobel Prizes, the winners of the Peace Prize are determined by a specially created Norwegian Nobel Committee, and the award ceremony is held on the day of Alfred Nobel's death.

At the end of September, the Verkhovna Rada proposed nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize. It was clarified that the document was signed by five deputies. However, the Verkhovna Rada has not been able to adopt a resolution on the nomination of the American leader.

On August 13, the White House announced the nomination of Trump by seven states for the Nobel Peace Prize. Among those who supported this initiative were Prime Ministers of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, Cambodia Hun Manet, Presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Gabon Brice Oligi Nguema, as well as the Government of Pakistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda Olivier Nduhirehe.

On September 2, Trump himself responded negatively to a journalist's question about his desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He added that he wants to be treated fairly for his services as president of the United States.
