An excessively lenient punishment for a defendant accused of treason was challenged in the Supreme Court. The review of judicial practice was published on October 9 on the website of the Supreme Court.

The precedent was the case of a Russian who received only five years for treason, although the sanction of the article provides for 12 to 20 years, as well as a life sentence.
