- Nabiullina announced the participation of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in testing the digital ruble
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation will soon become a participant in the testing of the digital ruble. This was announced on October 9 by the head of the regulator, Elvira Nabiullina, on the sidelines of Finopolis 2025.
"We expect that the Bank of Russia, which is not yet a participant in this pilot, will become a participant in the near future, and our employees will be able to voluntarily join this pilot," TASS quoted her as saying.
Nabiullina also noted that she plans to receive a salary in digital rubles together with the employees of the Central Bank. She also called receiving salaries in digital rubles "an additional opportunity for people."
Earlier, on September 18, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov emphasized the reliability of the digital ruble. According to him, the digital ruble is interesting for the budget process, as it will be monitored at a high level.
Prior to that, on September 17, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, announced that he had become the first person in Russia to receive a salary in digital rubles to his digital wallet on the Bank of Russia platform. Aksakov expressed the opinion that the digital ruble will be widely used in Russia, "since its use will be free for people, and commissions for such payments will be minimal for retail chains." According to him, the digital ruble is relevant in the budget process, in which reliability, speed and transparency of operations are important.
