The National Payment Card System (NSPK) and VTB presented a unique payment scenario through the Fast Payment System (SBP) at the FINOPOLIS-2025 forum. The service will allow the bank's customers to generate a QR code themselves and pay for their purchases quickly and safely. The bank informed Izvestia about this on October 12.

It is specified that the new method will be available in VTB Online. Before making a payment, the customer selects a debit account using the "pay with my QR" button in the "payments" section and generates a QR code. Next, it is enough for the user to show the code to the seller, who scans it.

The functionality will also be available to VTB Pay users. Pilot payments through the service will be carried out within the framework of FINOPOLIS-2025, and next year it will be available to all customers of the pay service.

"Paying with your own QR code significantly increases the convenience and reliability of payments. Now it is enough to generate a QR code in VTB Online or via VTB Pay with one click and show it to the seller - all operations are carried out quickly, without having to manually scan other people's codes and enter data. This not only reduces the risks of phishing and errors, but also makes shopping easier, saving us time," said Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy President and Chairman of the Board of VTB.

Dmitry Dubynin, CEO and Board member of NSPK, said that together with banks, NSPK develops and improves payment services for Russians. According to him, this year a personal QR code was introduced, which will be displayed directly on the smartphone screen. This format is especially in demand in places with high traffic in the cash register area, where it is enough just to get a gadget and generate a payment code in a few clicks. The solution is currently being tested with a number of banks, and the pilot project will last until early April 2026.

On September 4, the Central Bank of Russia told how Russians would not accidentally get blocked by a money transfer. According to the regulator, if you are still transferring money to another person, for example, paying for goods or services, sending a gift to a colleague or relatives, be sure to specify the purpose of the payment.
