There have been 309 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 309 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 35 people were killed and 359 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on October 9 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
24 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 25 road users needed medical attention. The reason for the nine incidents were traffic violations committed by bus drivers.
As a result of 100 accidents involving pedestrians, 12 people were killed, and another 90 were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 17 children among the injured, 12 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 43 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 57 outside their area of operation.
41 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 45 young road users were injured, including 17 pedestrians, 20 passengers and eight underage drivers. No dead children have been registered.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of settlements and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop. The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so you should not rush to resume traffic, even at a clear traffic light, to make sure that the crossing is completely free of pedestrians.
Parents were reminded to monitor the leisure time and behavior of their young children. It is recommended not to let them go outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening, and accompany them during walks, trips to educational classes in clubs and sports sections.
"To improve the visibility of young pedestrians to drivers of vehicles, be sure to use retroreflective elements on children's outerwear. The lack of parental control over the behavior and leisure of preschool and primary school age children often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Earlier, on October 7, it was reported that from January to September 2025, 7.9 thousand people were registered in Russia.
