The Ministry of Transport recalled the timing of replacing summer tires with winter tires

It is worth changing summer car tires to winter tires when the average daily air temperature reaches +5...+7 degrees, and there are also constant frosts. The Russian Ministry of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel on October 9.

In the Urals, it is usually time to "re—shoe" a car in October, and in central Russia - closer to November.

"According to the law, winter tires must be installed before the onset of calendar winter, on December 1. The technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled vehicles" says that summer tires cannot be operated from December to February," the ministry noted.

Due to the effects of temperatures, summer tires become too hard and lose their elasticity. This worsens the grip on the road and increases the braking distance.

When deciding to "change shoes" a car, you need to focus on the weather.

The day before, it was reported that the season for changing summer tires to winter tires in Russia started earlier than usual. Nationwide, the number of tire repair services in September was 13% higher year-on-year. In October, a record surge of 273% was recorded: in the first week of the month, "overshooting" was recorded twice as often as in the same period last year.

Since the last week of September, there has been an increase in the number of entries to car service stations in the Siberian, Ural, Far Eastern, Volga, and Northwestern districts. The average tire repair bill in September was 9.6 thousand rubles (-1% YoY).
