- FT has learned about NATO's plans to hold exercises in special areas near the border with the Russian Federation
NATO is considering conducting military exercises on the border with Russia in more remote and vulnerable areas. This was reported on October 9 by the Financial Times newspaper, citing knowledgeable sources in the alliance.
According to the newspaper, NATO allies are discussing more "decisive retaliatory measures," including the deployment of combat drones along the border with the Russian Federation and easing restrictions for pilots who patrol the eastern borders.
"Another option is to conduct NATO military exercises on the border with Russia, especially in more remote and unguarded sections of the border," the newspaper reports, without specifying which sections of the border it is talking about.
