The Court of Appeal dismissed the complaint of the defense of French cyclist Sofiane Sehili, who was arrested in Primorye on suspicion of illegally crossing the border, the preventive measure remained the same. On October 9, the press service of the united judicial system of Primorsky Krai reported.

"The decision of the Ussuriysky District Court of 09/06/2025 was left unchanged, the appeal was dismissed," the press service quoted TASS as saying.

On September 6, French cyclist Sofiane Sehili was detained for illegally crossing the border in Vladivostok. It was clarified that since July of this year, the cyclist traveled through Tajikistan, Mongolia and China.

On September 18, Vladimir Naidin, chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) of Primorsky Krai, announced that a cyclist from France who had illegally crossed the border was now in a pre-trial detention center. According to him, the detainee said that he wanted to cross the Russian-Chinese border. Due to a misunderstanding, the man was not allowed to ride his bike at the checkpoint, so he decided to "cut off" in another place.

Later, on October 6, the cyclist's lawyer, Alla Kushnir, reported that Sekhili had learned several Russian words in jail, including "hello" and "thank you", in order to communicate with his cellmates. Kushnir added that Sekhili now has a French-Russian phrasebook, which was given to him by the Honorary Consul of France.
