- The UN Secretary General called on the parties to the conflict in Gaza to find a two-state solution.
Israel, Palestine, as well as all other parties to the conflict in Gaza must put an end to it by seeking a two-State solution. This was announced on October 9 by the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres.
"I urge all interested parties to take advantage of the opportunity to work out a reliable political course towards ending the occupation, recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to self—determination and achieving a two-state solution," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The UN Secretary General also stressed that all agreements within the framework of the agreement must be respected, in particular, the Palestinian movement Hamas is obliged to return all Israeli hostages, and Israel must ensure the unhindered import of humanitarian supplies into the enclave.
Welcoming the announcement of a cease-fire in Gaza, he also praised the efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, which contributed to achieving this "necessary breakthrough."
The American leader Donald Trump announced the signing of the first stage of the peace plan for the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict a day earlier, which was confirmed on October 9 by representatives of the Palestinian Hamas movement.
Agence France-Presse (AFP), in turn, reported that the Israeli hostages would be exchanged for about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. This process, as specified in the publication, will take place within 72 hours after the implementation of the agreement.
