Zenit St. Petersburg football club (FC) has filed an application to the arbitration court of the Moscow Region with a demand to recover 77.4 million rubles from the bankrupt FC Khimki near Moscow. This was reported on October 8 by the Russian Agency for Legal and Judicial Information (RAPSI).

It is specified that Zenit filed a lawsuit on October 6, but the court did not accept it for consideration due to non-payment of state duty by St. Petersburg FC in accordance with the established procedure.

In addition, several more individual entrepreneurs, companies and others have filed their claims against the debtor.

On June 18, the press service of FC Khimki announced that the club had suspended its activities. The statement also expressed gratitude to the players, coaches, staff, fans and partners of the football club.

On May 30, RFU General Secretary Maxim Mitrofanov said that the Russian Football Union (RFU) had not issued a license to Khimki to participate in the Russian Premier League (RPL) in the 2025/26 season due to overdue accounts payable and lack of guarantees of regular financing.
