The materials of the criminal case against the former deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, General Pavel Popov, accused of corruption, were sent to the Main Military Prosecutor's Office. This was announced on October 9 by a representative of law enforcement agencies.

"The materials of General Popov's case have been sent to the Main Military Prosecutor's Office for approval of the indictment," he told TASS.

The agency's interlocutor clarified that if the supervisory authority makes a positive decision, the jurisdiction of the case of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Defense will be determined.

The official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Petrenko, announced on August 20 that the investigation into Popov had been completed. According to her, he is charged in accordance with articles part 6 of art. 290, part 4 of art. 159, part 2 of art. 292, paragraphs "b", "e" of Part 3 of art. 286 and Part 1 of art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, namely, "Receiving a bribe", "Fraud", "Illegal possession of weapons," "Official forgery," and "Abuse of official authority."
