The detention center where the detained head of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Hutsul, is being held and from where she is not allowed even to attend court sessions, does not meet the standards recognized in Europe. Her lawyer Gonazalo Boye told Izvestia about this on October 8.

"I saw the lawyer's room, which was beautiful, but I also saw another part of the prison, as well as the isolation ward, and I think they don't meet European standards," he said.

Boye called for an assessment of the conditions in which his client is located by studying the video broadcast from her camera, which is being conducted at the time of the hearing. Hutsuls, he added, are not allowed to attend meetings in person, which hinders ensuring justice, since a person facing trial must be close to his lawyers.

On the same day, another international representative of the defense of the head of Gagauzia, Ulyam Juli, pointed out the ambiguity of the criminal proceedings being conducted against his client, who was previously sentenced to seven years for allegedly financing the Shor party.

Marina Tauber, Executive Secretary of the executive Committee of the Pobeda bloc, said in an interview with Izvestia on September 14 that the situation in the Hutsul prison was degrading. According to her, the prisoners in this detention center are placed in conditions similar to medieval ones.

On September 12, Julie also stressed that articles recognized by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) are violated daily in the prison where Bashkan was placed.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
