Hutsul's lawyer pointed out the ambiguity of the ongoing trials against his client.
The criminal proceedings being conducted in Moldova against the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, are unclear, violations are being recorded, therefore the defendant's defense will appeal to international authorities, including the European Court of Human Rights. Bashkan's lawyer Ulyam Juli informed Izvestia about this on October 8.
"What will happen next, no one knows how long it will last. <...> This is some kind of farce. I've never seen anything like this anywhere in the world. My colleagues will make some comments. But as far as I understand, we will now turn to international institutions, including the European Court of Human Rights, to discuss with them what, in our opinion, is happening here," he said.
According to Julie, the court decided to continue the proceedings, which embarrassed both Hutsul herself and her defense team. He stressed that his colleagues would have to organize themselves and, possibly, stay in court until midnight.
Hutsul, who was sentenced to seven years in prison for allegedly financing the Shor party, receives great support from both the people of her autonomous region and international human rights activists. It is known that on October 8, the Chisinau Court of Appeal refused to release the head of Gagauzia from custody.
The defense said a day earlier that it would begin preparing arguments for the release of its client, who "should not be in prison." According to them, Hutsul, who is being held in a "very harsh" place, is full of enthusiasm despite the punctured proceedings, but she misses her children.
