- The meeting of the appeals chamber to appeal the Hutsul verdict was postponed to October 9.
The Moldovan court decided to postpone the meeting of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, which was supposed to discuss a possible appeal against the verdict handed down to Gagauz Bashkan Evgenia Gutsul on Thursday, October 9. The relevant decision was announced by Judge Vitaly Budech at a hearing on October 8.
"The court hearing in the case of Hutsul Evgenia has been postponed to October 9, 10:00 a.m. (coincides with Moscow time)," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
No information was provided about the reasons.
Hutsul, accused of allegedly financing the Shor party, was sentenced to seven years in prison on August 5. This case, which caused a wide worldwide response, attracted international lawyers William Julie and Gonzalo Boye, who, among others, defended the defendant.
On September 17, Julie pointed out the political nature of the trial against the Hutsuls. According to him, she had practically no real opportunity to defend herself, as Moldovan lawyers received only two weeks to study the case, which consists of more than 60 volumes, consisting of approximately 16 thousand pages.
