Medvedev argued with the judge over a warning for delaying time in Shanghai
On October 8, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the referee at the Shanghai tournament, who gave him a warning for prolonging the time. This happened after Medvedev called a doctor because of cramps he had after the second set in a match with American athlete Lerner Tien.
"You don't care that you've been waiting on your serve for Nadal for 55 seconds all your life until he's ready. Today, you're giving me a warning at the first opportunity. I played with him five times, and you never once gave him a warning for it <...> So stupid. It seems that you have completely lost your mind," Medvedev protested during the break. His words are quoted by the "Championship".
It is noted that the match ended with a victory for Medvedev with a score of 7:6 (8:6), 6:7 (1:7), 6:4. He spent almost three hours on the court, made ten aces and made four break points out of 12. In the next round, his opponent will be Australian Alex de Minor. The quarterfinals of the Masters in Shanghai will be held on October 10.
Earlier, on October 4, it was reported that Medvedev reached the third round of the Shanghai Masters tournament, defeating Czech athlete Dalibor Svrchina, who ranks 91st in the world rankings. The match ended with the score 6:1, 6:1. The game lasted exactly 1 hour.
