Long-lived tapir Sue died at the Moscow Zoo
Tapir Sue died in the Moscow Zoo. This was reported in the zoo's Telegram channel on Wednesday, October 8.
"Our old Sue was 37 years old. In nature, these animals rarely live to be 24 years old, and in zoos their life expectancy is about 25-30 years. By analogy with the age of a person, Sue was about 100 years old," the Moscow City News agency quoted the message as saying.
The zoo recalled that Sue was born in Detroit and moved to the Russian capital in 2005.
"In recent years, the tapir has had serious health problems due to its age," the zoo added.
