Sberbank called for increased regulation of non-banks
It is important to properly regulate the products of non-banks created on the basis of marketplaces, for example, installments, which in fact is a credit product. This opinion was expressed by Taras Skvortsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, at the session "Banks of the Future" of the Finopolis-2025 forum of innovative financial technologies.
Skvortsov drew attention to the rapid growth of the customer base by non-banks due to price discrimination. "If you pay for goods on the marketplace with a non-bank card of this marketplace, then such goods become cheaper for the buyer than when paying with a card of any other bank. I think the regulator should pay attention to this," explained the deputy chairman of the Board of Sberbank.
The top manager of Sberbank also noted that classic banks around the world earn mainly on risk management. At the same time, neobanks are just beginning to go through this stage. "In the word "neobanky" the letter "o" still needs to be earned," he noted.
Answering a question about the future of classic and non-banks, Skvortsov stressed that Sber always stands for competition. "When competitors show good results, we develop faster. The harder it is for us, the better we are, the stronger we become," he said.
Speaking about the development of financial services, Skvortsov stressed that they should take into account people's needs. "Therefore, we integrate non-financial services that are closely related to finance into the Sberbank Online application. These include buying tickets, booking hotels, ordering groceries, refueling cars, searching for music, and more," said the top manager.
Skvortsov explained that it is easier to do this now than before, due to the active development of generative artificial intelligence, AI agents and API integration. He recalled that there are already services in the world that allow you to make purchases directly in the chatbot of the neural network.
