- The British Parliament commented on London's attempt to distance India from the Russian Federation.
India should not distance itself from the Russian Federation, since it is Moscow that is involved in shaping a new world order without the dominance of the dollar. This was stated on October 8 by Richard Balfe, a member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament, in a conversation with Izvestia.
He also noted that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, instead of trying to dissuade India from cooperating with Russia, should persuade it to increase purchases of Scotch whiskey.
"Mr. Starmer may well want to put pressure on India, but he will not succeed. It would be good if he concentrated his pressure on increasing Scotch whisky exports to India, where there seems to be a lot of unmet demand," he said.
From October 8-9, a large British delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom, Keir Starmer, is on a visit to India.
Earlier in the day, Bloomberg reported that Starmer found himself in an awkward position during a visit to India due to the fact that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his birthday. The agency stressed that this situation occurred against the background of diplomatic difficulties, as Modi is actively strengthening relations with Russia.
