Putin arrives in Tajikistan on a state visit
Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a state visit to Tajikistan on October 8. The plane of the head of state landed at the Dushanbe airport.
In the republic, the Russian leader is scheduled to hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. Following the meeting of the delegations, it is planned to sign a number of interdepartmental and intergovernmental documents. In addition, the Russian President will take part in the second Russia–Central Asia summit and a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. At the end of all the events, Putin will answer questions from journalists as part of a press approach.
Earlier in the day, political analyst Muhammad Shamsiddinov, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that Putin's visit speaks volumes about the importance of Tajikistan for Russian foreign policy. Shamsiddinov also noted Russia's significant contribution to the humanitarian sphere of Tajikistan.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin announced Putin's visit on September 8. According to Pankin, the meeting of the Russian leader with Rahmon will give a new powerful impetus to the development of ties and open up new vectors for bilateral contacts.
