Americans' spending on Halloween celebrations this year will reach record levels of $13.1 billion. This is evidenced by the results of a survey on the website of the National Retail Federation (NRF).

It is noted that these figures exceed the values recorded in 2023 and 2024. Then the Americans spent $12.2 billion and $11.6 billion, respectively.

According to the survey, 79% of respondents expect higher prices for goods due to trade duties. At the same time, 73% plan to participate in Halloween celebrations, which is 1% more than last year.

According to the results of the study, during the holiday 66% of citizens are engaged in distributing sweets, 51% — dressing up in costumes and decorating the house or yard (51%). In addition, compared to last year, the number of people planning to carve a pumpkin (46%), arrange or attend a party (32%), visit a haunted house (24%) or dress up their pets (23%) has increased.

The average amount Americans plan to spend on Halloween is $114.45, which is also a record high. A significant portion of the cost will be spent on the purchase of traditional costumes — about $ 2 billion.

According to the survey, witches (5.6 million people), vampires (2.7 million) and pirates (1.6 million) are among the most popular costumes. About 1.6 million people plan to dress up as Batman or cats. It is specified that more than 8 thousand US citizens participated in the study.

Last October, a Zombie Walk campaign was held in the Chilean capital of Santiago with hundreds of participants. Crowds of people dressed as zombies and other scary characters walked the streets of the city. The campaign itself originated in California in 2001 and has spread to major cities around the world, including New York, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Singapore, Sao Paulo and Frankfurt.
