The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has failed to adopt a resolution on the nomination of US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. This was reported on October 8 by the Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua with reference to the Ukrainian parliament.

"There were not enough people in the rada who wanted to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize," the newspaper wrote on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that out of 450 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, only 132 parliamentarians supported this proposal.

Earlier, on September 29, the Verkhovna Rada proposed nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize. It was clarified that the document was signed by five deputies, among whom only one is a member of the ruling Servant of the People party.

On August 13, the White House announced the nomination of Trump by seven states for the Nobel Peace Prize. Among those who supported this initiative were Prime Ministers of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, Cambodia Hun Manet, Presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Gabon Brice Oligi Nguema, as well as the Government of Pakistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda Olivier Nduhirehe.

On September 2, Trump himself responded negatively to a journalist's question about his desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He added that he wants to be treated fairly for his services as president of the United States.
