Experts reported on the popularity of family travel among Russians

Russians increasingly prefer to travel with their family, and are also showing interest in travel insurance. This was reported by the Ingosstrakh press service based on an analysis of summer statistics on bookings and insurance bookings over the past three years conducted jointly with the OneTwoTrip online travel service.

"We see an increasing trend in the number of trips with children, and at the same time, such trips are becoming more conscious. Tourists are increasingly including insurance in the mandatory vacation preparation list, which makes vacations not only comfortable, but also safe," said Dmitry Krenev, Deputy Director of Ingosstrakh's Retail Business Loss Settlement Department.

The share of trips with children in the summer of 2025 was 15% compared to 13% in 2023. The average check for booking hotels for families increased from 16.6 thousand to 23.5 thousand rubles, which is higher than the growth rate of travelers without children. At the same time, families are increasingly choosing more comfortable conditions: the share of bookings in 4-5-star hotels has increased from 44% to more than 60%.

Turkey (60% of bookings), Egypt (13%) and the UAE (8%) remain the most popular destinations for holidays with children. For tourists without children, except Turkey (66%) and Egypt (9%), Vietnam (8%) is also among the top three.

The number of family insurance policies issued has more than doubled, from 161,000 in the summer of 2023 to almost 350,000 in 2025. Medical expenses remain the main risk included in the contract. Common insurance claims include acute respiratory viral infections, intestinal infections, and injuries.

According to the survey, 76.2% of Russians always take out insurance when traveling abroad. Women and parents show great discipline in this matter. The main motives for purchasing a policy are peace of mind, protection from unforeseen expenses and visa requirements.
