Skolkovo Foundation and Roscosmos to create space technology cluster

The Skolkovo Foundation (part of the VEB Group.The Russian Federation) and the State Corporation Roscosmos signed a cooperation agreement providing for the creation of a cluster of space technologies. This was reported in the press service of the foundation.

The agreement was signed by Sergey Perov, Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation, and Dmitry Bakanov, CEO of Roscosmos. The new cluster will be formed on the basis of the Skolkovo Innovation Center and aimed at the development of Russian cosmonautics within the framework of the national Space project.

According to the foundation, the initiative will bring together a pool of private innovative companies developing technologies in the interests of the space industry at the Skolkovo site. It is planned that within the framework of the cluster, joint research and production projects will be implemented aimed at increasing Russia's technological independence and introducing advanced solutions into the practice of Roscosmos enterprises.

"Today we have laid the foundation for a new stage of cooperation between Roscosmos and the Skolkovo Foundation. The signing of the agreement and the creation of a space technology cluster is a step that synchronizes the efforts of the government and innovative business. Over 15 years of work, we have formed an ecosystem that unites more than five thousand promising companies, whose potential is in demand in large-scale projects. Together with Roscosmos, we are building a full—fledged chain - from an idea and a startup to the implementation of developments within the framework of industry tasks. This is a long—term investment in Russia's technological leadership," Perov said.

Dmitry Bakanov, head of Roscosmos, noted that the national Cosmos project, approved this year, provides for the active involvement of private companies in the development of the industry.

"The Skolkovo Foundation has a unique experience in working with high-tech companies. We hope that by working together we will be able to create a large innovation cluster that will become a point of attraction for the best teams and ideas. This will accelerate the introduction of breakthrough technologies and strengthen Russia's position in the global space sector," he stressed.
