The Federal Property Management Agency has put up for auction an apartment in Vladivostok owned by the former governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Furgal. This follows from the documents published on the GIS "Auctions" website.

"The above-mentioned property was seized by a bailiff, <...> the debtor is Furgal Sergey Ivanovich," the text of the document says.

It is specified that the apartment is located at 32 Basargina Street. The housing area is 76.9 square meters, and the initial price is 20,146 million rubles. Applications for participation in the auction will be accepted until October 29, and the auction itself will be held on November 6.

On February 10, Furgal was sentenced to 22 years in a high-security penal colony for organizing the murders of competitors in 2004-2005. At the same time, his defense, represented by lawyer Boris Kozhemyakin, announced its intention to appeal the verdict.

Prior to that, on February 2, the jury found the ex-governor guilty of organizing two murders and one attempted murder, as well as arms trafficking, but the statute of limitations on this episode has expired. The jury concluded that Furgal did not deserve leniency.

On October 22, 2021, the ex-governor's lawyer announced that a new criminal case had been opened against Furgal under Article 210 of the Criminal Code ("Organization of a criminal community") and several episodes of Article 159 of the Criminal Code ("Fraud").

Furgal was detained on July 9, 2020 in Khabarovsk. He was taken to Moscow, where he was detained based on the decision of the Basmanny Court. The ex-governor is charged with organizing contract killings committed by him when he was engaged in business activities (from 1999 to 2005). In the early 2000s, he held the position of General Director of the Alkuma company, specializing in the timber trade, and also headed the ferrous scrap collection company Mif-Khabarovsk.
