US President Donald Trump believes that the next 48 hours of negotiations in Egypt between the Palestinian radical movement Hamas and Israel will be crucial. This was reported on October 7 by the Fox News channel.

"According to reports, President Trump told the former American hostage (American and Israeli soldier Idan Alexander. — Ed.) and his family [at a meeting at the White House] that the next 48 hours of negotiations are crucial," the TV channel correspondent said live on air.

On October 7, Al Jazeera TV channel, citing a source, reported that the Hamas delegation, during the second day of negotiations on resolving the conflict in Gaza in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, demanded that the release of hostages be linked to the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip. According to a TV channel source, the second day of negotiations was devoted to discussing withdrawal maps and a timetable for the release of hostages. Hamas is also said to have demanded international guarantees for a final end to the conflict and the complete withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza.
