A cloud of potentially toxic smoke has risen over the city of Aschaffenburg in the south of Germany, located in the federal state of Bavaria, as a result of an accident at an industrial plant. This was reported on October 8 by the German newspaper Bild.

"An incident was recorded at an industrial enterprise on Tuesday. (As a result of which. — Ed.) A yellowish gas cloud was released...> The cloud is located over the immediately adjacent urban area of Aschaffenburg. People were urged to stay in their homes and keep windows and doors closed," the publication says.

In addition, representatives of the emergency services called on residents of the area to turn off ventilation systems and air conditioners in their homes.

According to preliminary information, the incident, which injured four employees, could have been triggered by a chemical reaction caused by placing a metal part in an acid bath. It is noted that about 250 firefighters were involved in the elimination of the consequences.

On October 4, Sebastian Alish, a police spokesman for the Stadtfeld-West district in Cologne, Germany, reported the unintentional poisoning of 24 people by a 79-year-old pensioner. It was clarified that a fire broke out in the suspect's house, as a result of which the release of phosphine stored there in a careless state was recorded.
