Irish mixed martial artist Conor McGregor has agreed to an 18-month suspension for violating the anti-doping policy of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC). This was announced on October 7 on the official UFC website.

"McGregor missed three attempts to take biological samples over a 12—month period in 2024, which is a violation of the UFC's ADP," the statement said.

It is clarified that the Irish fighter cooperated with the anti-doping Authority of Martial Arts Sports (CSAD), provided detailed information about the reasons for skipping the procedures, and also took responsibility by agreeing to the disqualification. CSAD also noted that the fighter was recovering from injuries and did not prepare for fights during the three missed tests.

Earlier, on June 25, it became known that the Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, German Victoria Karl, failed a doping test due to cough syrup. The discovered substance was an ingredient in cough syrup, which Carl prescribed and administered by a doctor after the final race at the Winter Military World Games (CISM) on March 26.
