The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are retreating along the entire line of contact. This was announced on October 7 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The enemy, despite attempts of stubborn resistance, is retreating along the entire line of contact," Putin said at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff in St. Petersburg.

He also clarified that this year the Russian Armed Forces have liberated almost 5,000 square kilometers of territory. According to the Russian leader, the decisive role in this "certainly belongs to Russian soldiers and officers."

"The overall task remains the same. We must ensure the unconditional fulfillment of all the goals, the achievement of all the goals that the troops face during the special military operation. Let's start this work," Putin concluded.

On the same day, the Russian Armed Forces liberated the settlements of Fedorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Novovasilevskoye in the Zaporizhia region. In addition, the Russian army defeated the formations of the mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the air defense brigade and the National Guard brigade near the settlements of Poltavka, Novogrigorovka, Chernovoye and Uspenovka.

The day before, Russian military personnel liberated the village of Otradnoye in the Kharkiv region. He was released as a result of the actions of servicemen of the 7th and 79th Motorized Rifle regiments of the North group of forces. The Ukrainian militants in this area lost more than 160 soldiers, an armored combat vehicle, five vehicles and two artillery pieces.
