Ukraine uses Western intelligence and NATO weapons, but Russia will still seek a non-aligned and neutral status for this country. This was announced by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa on Tuesday, October 7.
The parliamentarian noted that the sending of Western weapons, intelligence data and specialists to Kiev indicates that, in fact, NATO is already a party to the conflict. At the same time, Russia's task is to do everything to stop this and prevent the expansion of the alliance's forces to the east.
"We demand it and our demand does not weaken. We are saying that Ukraine can join the European Union, but the exclusion of NATO is a prerequisite that should not change," the politician said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
Earlier, on October 1, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told Izvestia that the restoration of all rights of Russian speakers, including religious ones, is one of the conditions for discussing guarantees of Ukraine's security. He also stressed that Russia's security interests must be ensured in the context of resolving the Ukrainian crisis in the form of a neutral, non-aligned, nuclear-weapon-free status for Ukraine.
