Peskov: the decree on privatization was adopted because of the hostility of the West
Moscow intends to resist illegal attempts by the West to confiscate Russian assets and will defend its rights using all available legal means. This was announced on October 7 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.
"If plans for the illegal seizure of assets and holdings of the Russian Federation begin to be implemented, of course, the Russian Federation will protect its interests and use all possible legal tools," the press secretary of the head of state said at a briefing.
He noted that this process has no specific deadlines. At the same time, those who carried out and initiated illegal actions will also be prosecuted by Russia according to the law.
On October 6, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko warned that the Russian side's reaction to the possible confiscation of frozen assets in Europe would be harsh. According to him, preliminary work on the response measure has already been carried out.
Earlier, on October 2, Peskov compared the participants in the discussion in Europe about the confiscation of assets of the Russian Federation with a gang. According to the press secretary of the Russian leader, all those involved in these illegal actions will bear legal and other responsibility.
