Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold an informal meeting with the leaders of the CIS countries in St. Petersburg at the end of the year. This was announced on October 7 by the assistant to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov.

"During his speech at the CIS meeting, our president will invite the leaders of the CIS countries to a traditional informal meeting in St. Petersburg at the end of December," Ushakov said.

He added that the date of the meeting has not yet been determined, but it will be done after the completion of a number of major events, including a visit to Tajikistan and preparations for the Russian-Arab summit, which will be held on October 15.

On October 5, Putin, congratulating Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on his birthday by phone, discussed with him his upcoming visit to the republic. In addition, the Russian President noted that under the leadership of Rahmon, Tajikistan has been able to achieve significant success in the socio-economic sphere and continues to strengthen its position in the international arena.

Later, on October 7, Ushakov said that after completing the work program at the summit in Tajikistan, Putin would answer questions from the media. From October 8-10, the Russian leader will visit Tajikistan at the invitation of Rahmon. There, the Russian leader will also participate in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
